KOXBOX Live (Twisted Records/ Ibiza/Denemark)
Formed in Copenhagen early in the ’90s, Koxbox made some of the first moves toward
the psychedelic trance sound that became a standard later in the decade. The duo
was formed by Frank E (aka Frank Madsen) and Peter Candy, who first met back in 1980
while playing in rock bands around Copenhagen. Even though the KoxBox evolution has
taken many twists and turns, one thing stayed constant: the music is of unimaginable
quality and they can surely be called legends in our scene. We are very excited to
host one of the only artists that have constantely elevated their music to be on top
of the psychedelic trance scene.

OCELOT Live (Vertigo Records/ Portugal)
oCeLoT aka Aaron Peacock is based in Portugal after many years in San Fran. Aaron produces
high-impact psychedelic trance, sometimes deviating into fresh morning goa style creating
music for your nonstop dancing, listening pleasure. While producing since 1993, the oCeLoT
project began in the year 2000 and has been heard on 5 continents in forests, on beaches,
on mountains, in clubs, warehouses, in fields, and just about anywhere a trance party has
been held.

sounds that are progressively unique. By popular demand we bring back Yuriy. We assure
you that if you have not heard Yuriy before you will go back to your computers to have
another listen.

DJ K E N (Dreamcatcher / Psychollective, NYC / JP)

621 – Mondrian – Seamless Texture
make music software

I love the De Stijl Art movement of the 20′s. The art of sculptures of Theo van Doesburg, Gerrit Rietveld and Mondrian were so radical back then… and have such staying power today. Even now when people see their work they classify it as modern art (or as some put it… ‘something my 3 yr old could do’) The complexity and simplicity of the movement can still be found in modern day art, architecture, dance, music and sculpture.

This seamless texture was illustrated by Patrick Hoesly, a Kansas City based illustrator specializing in architectural illustrations and graphic design. This texture is released under the Creative Commons Attribution license. If you like this image, please mark it as a favorite and feel free to leave a comment. Thanks!

What is a Seamless Texture / Pattern?
A seamless texture is an special image, where one side of a image exactly matches the opposite side, so that the edges blend into each other when repeated. Seamless textures are used for desktop wallpaper, webpage backgrounds, video games, Photoshop fills and in 3D rendering programs.

How did you make it?
This texture was made using software specially designed to aid in seamless texture creation. Some of the programs I’ve use are Photoshop, Illustrator, Filter Forge, Genetica, Image Synth, Alien Skin, Topaz Labs, Imagelys, and a Wacom tablet.

beat detection (sample)
make music software

direction is random but the decision of when to draw is based on detection of a beat in the music. in this case the length of lines is controlled by the user of the software while the audio is playing. this is a simple example but see previous photos for an idea of other changing variables. OpenGL has issues on osx10.4 so most of the features do not work, which makes this video perhaps a bit boring. i will upload something more interesting later when i get back to an osx10.5 system. PARTY PEOLE AT GIVEMESPACE

Second Life holiday parties was an incredible mix of trance, dnb, electronica, dark psy, goa, minimal, proggy, acid, experimental, industrial, noize, tribal, jazz, live music, country, blues, reggae, salsa, classical, opera, and Christmas music. I heard it all and then some.

I love music of all kinds. If it’s good, it’s worth listening to, so don’t start with the nose-up-in-the-air over your favorite genre. Believe me… good music will always find an audience. An audience of sophisticated listeners will stop to listen to any good sound… even if it isn’t part of your normal repertoire.

What is amazing is that dj’s and musicians around the world know this, and they borrow from all genres to create their own personal sounds.

Here in Second Life, we get the results from around the world. World music mixes with the trendy sounds of the day, and we get the sounds that we love so much.

I want to thank all the dj’s, musicians, club owners and event makers in SL. You guys made a holiday scene like no other. APPLAUSE & BRAVO ::::
